A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF OBERLIN, KANSAS FROM K.S.A. 12-1222 AND PROVIDING SUBSTITUTE AND ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS ON THE SAME SUBJECT, RELATING TO THE CITY LIBRARY.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF OBERLIN, KANSAS:

SECTION 1: The City of Oberlin, Kansas, by the power invested in it by Article 12, Section 5, of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, hereby elects to make inapplicable to it and exempts itself from K.S.A. 12-1222, which applies to said city but not uniformly to all cities and provides substitute and additional provisions on the same subject as hereinafter provided.

SECTION 2. The City of Oberlin hereby exempts itself from any requirement in K.S.A. 12-1222 with regard to the members of the city library board. The library board of the City of Oberlin will be composed of seven members appointed by the mayor and approved by the council. At least four members of the board shall be residents of the City of Oberlin and up to three members of the board may be residents of Decatur County but residing outside the city limits of the City of Oberlin. There shall be no limit to the number of terms that may be served by an appointee.
